This starts on March 25 with the penumbral lunar eclipse. The Moon at 5 Libra and the Sun opposite in Aries. All planets form a tight wedge around the Sun with the Moon being the extreme point of the cluster. This is the eclipse of letting go. What do my ideals call upon me now to surrender or give up? Marital and relationship issues can come to a head at this time. Contracts and alliances may become unstable and surprise decisions are made as we explore what we need to let go of. The Saros degree confirms this with the ideas of our becoming disillusioned and then letting go of any expectation that as a species we are capable of resolving the issues we face. This eclipse strongly influences the current worldwide issues and the trauma of war and peace. Apart from this apparently negative outlook, the pattern has us search for a counterpoint to where we are located. So as to find a new way of doing things. But this can only happen when we understand that what we are dealing with is a broken down system of inquiry which is no longer satisfactory at resolving our issues.
The letting go of here is important so we can then find and pick up solutions through the following solar eclipse. This total solar eclipse on April 9 can bring with it new opportunities with its stimulating, strengthening and energising dynamic. Equally this eclipse heralds invasions with its greedy, destructive and aggressive energy. The Sun-Moon combination is conjunct Chiron. So there is equally a positive potential, when we connect with our inner metaphorical wounding. Our inner stirrings compel our understandings and moral perspectives, blinding us to all other possibilities. The flip-side to this eclipse is the narcissistic attitudes that can arise with the shadow side of the Sun. Some extreme behaviours from leaders can erupt at this time, or within a month of this eclipse. There can be a disproportionate sense of entitlement. So be wary of those who hop on their ‘high-horse’ at this time. Otherwise it can be a fruitful time for exploring your own metaphysical wounding. This eclipse also occurs with Mercury retrograde in the Fire signs and so calling into focus our aspirations. The end of this eclipse period also sets up our searching over the next six months until the next eclipse cycle. So the themes I have discussed above will continue to resinate over this period.
